One of the most powerful ways we create change is by telling our stories. By doing so, we normalize the experiences many face but feel too ashamed to discuss openly. This is Tori’s postpartum depression story!
Postpartum Depression Story
According to the CDC, 1 in 10 women will experience postpartum depression.
Unfortunately, the stigma that surrounds mental health struggles is just as pervasive during pregnancy and postpartum.
This stigma silences women and prevents people from accessing needed help.

In February 2018, during the depths of Torri’s postpartum depression, she had her husband take this compelling photograph.
She wanted this moment captured so she could look back on it once she pulled herself out of this pain.
What Tori never could’ve imagined was how many lives this photo would touch.
This one image created a needed conversation about postpartum depression and helped many feel less alone.
Hear Tori tell her story, which includes trigger warnings for suicidal thoughts, during episode 55 of the Plus Mommy Podcast.
She holds nothing back and goes deep while also providing an underlying message of hope!
